Panasonic FS-A1MKII

PANASONIC FS-A1MKII

An MSX2 machine.

DESCRIPTION

I ordered this refurbished Panasonic FS-A1MKII MSX2 machine via eBay earlier, which had its annoying built-in software package deactivated. Thanks to this, it was ready to start up quite quickly after switching it on. The presence of the Japanese character set adds a lot to the uniqueness of the machine.

Its two cartridge expansion ports are now considered quite few, but they were still enough at the time. It fits in a compact space, hardly gets hot and is stable. Since it is an MSX2, two AA batteries keep the exact time and date until the batteries run out. This machine is originally made in Japan, so it starts up in NTSC mode, fortunately in MSX-DOS you can switch to 50Hz with a simple command (hertz), so it displays itself properly even on a PAL TV.

It has two RCA outputs on which the built-in PSG (Programmable Sound Generator) outputs sound, as well as a monitor output, a printer output, a cassette unit control output, an NTSC TV video output and two DB9 joy, mouse, etc. outputs on the side. There is also a power supply input that has a rather unique connector.
